Catherine Debrunner claimed gold |L|
in the event, finishing |M|
just ahead of Scaroni |O|
in 10:43.62 – a |P|
Paralympic record. Scaroni was |Q|
looking to defend the |R|
gold she won three |S|
years ago in Tokyo |U|
in the 5K, but |V|
she couldnt hold off |Y|
Debrunner, who charged into |Z|
the lead over the |A|
final 300 meters. Scaroni |B|
also won bronze in |C|
the 2021 Tokyo games |D|
in the 800, with |E|
Saturdays silver becoming her |F|
third medal in her |G|
fourth Paralympic Games. She |H|
could double that number |J|
by the end of |K|
the games, though, as |L|
she still has the |M|
1,500, 800 and marathon |O|
events in which to |P|
